How do I contact BluePlanetDVD?

How many DVDs can I have at home simultaneously?
It depends on the level of your membership. Currently we offer four membership levels:
  • Light Membership:You can keep up to one DVDs simultaneously
  • Soft Membership:You can keep up to two DVDs simultaneously
  • Basic Membership:You can keep up to three DVDs simultaneously
  • Premium Membership:You can keep up to five DVDs simultaneously

Can I change my membership level?
Yes. You can change your membership level, but only if you service time payment is up to date. To upgrade membership (to have more titles or faster postal service), you have to pay the difference of enrollment fee and monthly fee for the time of service remaining. To downgrade (to a lesser number of titles), you have first to return the number titles above your desired new maximum and have no more titles to receive. Then you can then downgrade membership level, and the expiration date on your account will be changed to reflect the enrollment fee and remaining monthly fee difference credited as extra service time.

How will I get the DVDs delivered to me?
Each DVD, inside a protective sleeve, is sent using the local postal service in its individual mailer.

How long will it take to get a DVD delivered?
It depends on availability and membership mail priority class. If you choose a DVD that is available (i.e we have it in in stock) and you have priority mail (blue) membership it will take up to three business days, or four business days for regular mail membership. If the DVD is not currently available, you will have to wait until it becomes available, plus the shipping time mentioned before.

How much is the monthly membership?
Currently we offer two different types of membership. They differ in the number of DVDs you are allowed to keep simultaneously and in the delivery time (mail priority). The following table summarizes those options:
Type of Membership Average Delivery Time Number of Titles Enrollment Fee Monthly Fee
(Sales Tax Included)
LightBlue 2-3 business days 1 20.00 EUR 15.00 EUR
SoftBlue 2-3 business days 2 40.00 EUR 21.00 EUR
BasicBlue 2-3 business days 3 60.00 EUR 31.00 EUR
PremiumBlue 2-3 business days 5 100.00 EUR 42.00 EUR
* - BluePlanetDVD and the portuguese CTT mail company recommend the use of priority mail options (Blue), as average time is from 2 to 3 business days, superior delays may be verified with irregular frequency.
How do I pay?
Redunicre VISA/MasterCard Currently we accept only credit card payments. If you do not have a credit card you can use the services of companies that issue temporary credit card numbers for Internet purchases - ex: MBNet (www.mbnet.pt) - to use the MBNet service, all you need is to have a regular ATM card issued by a participant financial institution and enroll in the service. The value of charge will be presented for confirmation before requesting your credit card data. For for the membership payments, the minimum period is one month.

How will I know the membership payment is due?
We will send you an email at least one week before your membership fee is due for which you will have to recharge your account - minimum one month membership payment. (Available credits are automatically accounted for your expiration date). You should recharge your account at least 72 hours before the expiration date because of possible delays processing your credit card information.

How much time may I keep the DVDs after my membership is finished?
Only the time needed to send them back to us (3- 4 days). After the expiration of your membership, keeping the DVDs at home means that service is still being used and it will be charged accordingly to the membership rate. That payment can be deducted from your enrollment fee if needed be.

How long does it take to get my first DVDs?
It will take up to four business days.

How do I return my movies?
You send each movie back in the self-addressed return mailers that came with the mailer in which you received the DVD, and since the postage is prepaid, it does not cost you anything. Please do not forget to enclose the DVD in its protective sleeve.

Do I have to send back all DVDs I have at home at once?
No. After you watch a movie, simply put it in its self-addressed prepaid mailer and mail it back to us. As soon as we receive it, we will send you the next movie on your list.
I don''t have time to watch DVDs now. Do I loose the monthly fees that I have pre-paid ?
No. Request a Self-Suspension and we will stop sending rental DVDs. As soon as you return all DVDs, the self-suspension becomes effective. When you have time to watch DVDs again, release the Self-Suspension and we will start sending you DVDs from your lists, and the time you spent without any DVDs will be added to your service time.
Note: This option is only available if your monthly fee is up to date.
What exactly am I paying when I enroll?
You membership fee includes:
The Enrollment Fee, a security deposit which will be reimbursed to you, if you ever decide to leave the club, upon returning all DVDs belonging to BluePlanetDVD that you have in you possession;
The membership period you choose (minimum one full month).

Do I have to return the DVDs I have at home if I decide to cancel my membership?
No. You can keep the DVDs you currently hold and chose not to be reimbursed for the security deposit paid when you enrolled. However you might have to pay for the difference between the cost of the DVDs you keep and the value of your security deposit. Once you decide to cancel your membership we will ship to you the boxes corresponding to the DVD titles you decided to keep.

Can I receive the enrollment fee back if I decide to cancel my membership?
Yes. You must return the DVDs you have at home and send us a mesage informing that you want to cancel the service. As soon as we receive the last DVD you have at home and confirm your cancelation order, we will refund you the enrollment fee.

How can I tell a DVD is in stock and how soon will it be sent to me?
If a DVD title is currently not available it will not show the option Rent. You can however add it to your Reserved or View lists. We will ship it to you as soon as it becomes available.

What is the difference between the Reserve List and the View List?
The Reserve List contains movies you wish to be sent to you urgently. The View List contains all the movies you are interested in watching. If someone has a movie tile in his/hers Reserve List it will have priority over the same movie in your View List. As soon as a movie from your View List becomes available we send it to you immediately.

How do you determine which DVDs get sent to me?
Once you create a list of DVDs you wish to receive we will automatically send you a DVD from that list as soon as we receive one DVD back from you. You can also log in and rent any available movie you want.

Can I reserve a movie that has not been released yet?
Yes. All you need to do it to add the title to your Reserve List. Once the DVD becomes available we will ship it to you.

Why do I have fewer DVDs at home than the number of DVDs associated with my membership?
For each DVD you have on your Reserve List we will reduce the number of DVDs you can keep simultaneously at home by one. That is because you will have preference over all the other customers who wish to view that same DVD but did not reserve it. If you do not mind to wait longer to watch a particular movie we suggest you add that DVD title to the View List instead.

I have received a scratched DVD? What shall I do ?
Please confirm that the scratch does in fact prevents you from seeing a part of the movie. Take the DVD out of the player and clean it with a soft cloth, switch off and on the DVD player, and try to play again the damaged section.
If the problem persists, then send the DVD back to us as soon as possible with a note on paper describing that it is damaged (and in which chapter, if possible) so that we can check the damage.

How does the Bring a Friend Program work?
For each new member that enrolls in the club and refers your username (email address) during the enrollment process, you will get a credit corresponding to a one month membership of the level paid by the new member.

When will I get the credit for bringing in a friend through your Bring a Friend Program?
You will only be able to use the credit after your friend has paid for six months of membership.

Why does BluePlanetDVD sell all DVDs with no profit?
The goal of this policy is to increase our sales. Higher sales, lead to bigger discounts from the distributors, which in turn lead to more sales and bigger discounts, in what can be described as a virtuous cycle. Since the discounts we receive from the distributors are applicable to both the sale and rental DVDs, even without making any money on the sale of DVDs we gain significantly by buying rental copies with bigger discounts.
